The licensed pony breeding stallion and international FEI pony Cosmopolitan D has been retired from competition sport.

Cosmopolitan D is a 16-year old German Riding Pony stallion by FS Champion de Luxe out of Minigi (by Marsvogel xx x Black Boy). He is bred by Hubert Hemmelgarn.

Licensed Stallion

He was licensed at the 2012 Westfalian Stallion Licensing in Munster-Handorf and approved for Hanover and Weser Ems in 2013. He achieved his performance test requirements through sport.

Cosmopolitan D became one of the most popular dressage pony breeding stallions. He has 316 offspring registered for sport or breeding with the German equestrian federation and no less than 50 licensed sons, his most famous one probably being the 2023 European Pony Champion and former German team pony Cosmo Callidus, who now competes for Denmark.

Sport Career with Nine Riders

At the 2013 Bundschampionare
In his sport career, Cosmopolitan D carried nine different riders into the show ring between 2010 and 2025.

He was first shown by his owner, Danica Duen, in 2010 and won gold at the Bundeschampionate. In 2014 the pair returned to Warendorf and placed 8th. In 2015 Duen alternated the ride with Sophie Duprée. The latter rode him at his third consecutive Bundeschampionate and placed 7th.

In 2016 no less than four different riders competed him the same year: Duen began the year, then Duprée showed hum, but as of June he was presented by Maike Mende, who piloted him to silver at the Bundeschampionate, but as of November 2016 Jacob Schenk was onboard until the spring of 2017. He rode the stallion at his first CDI in Mannheim in April 2017.

With Bücker at the 2019 CDI Sint-Truiden
In the autumn of 2017 Lena Bücker took over the reins and rode him at the Preis der Besten to a 16th place as well as the German team selection trial at the 2018 CDI Hagen.  They were 7th at the 2018 German Pony Championships. Bücker retained the ride through 2019 and campaigned him at CDI's in Exloo, Sint-Truiden, and Hagen.

In the autumn of 2019 the owner's daughter, Sophie Duen, took over and showed him once internationally, at the 2020 CDI Le Mans, where they were 11th three times. It was Cosmopolitan's last international. She continued to ride the stallion at national level through May 2022 after which it was Lotta Plaas' turn. The pair finished 28th at the 2022 German Pony Championships. Plaas showed the stallion for one more year.

As of 2024 Cosmopolitan's show career began winding down with considerably less competitions. Steven Suraniti rode him at two shows that year, while Charlotte Wohner took him to four local competitions for experience.
