Lynn Crowden's Hanoverian licensed stallion Woodlander Wavavoom has passed away on 16 February 2026. He was 20 years old.
Wavavoom was a 2006 born stallion by Weltregent out of Louisiana (by Longchamp x Davignon). He was bred by Crowden at Woodlander stud in the U.K.
Licensed Stallion
Wavavoom was licensed at the Hanoverian stallion licensing in Verden in 2008 after just four weeks out of the field. He returned to the U.K. and was graded by WBS-UK, where he was awarded Reserve Champion. He was approved Oldenburg in 2013.
In November 2009 he did his 30-day stallion performance test in Redefin and scored 7.28 points and later fulfilled his licensing requirements through sport.
Sport Career
He was first competed in Germany in 2009 as a 4-year old by Britta Baumgart, before returning to the U.K. where Carsten Sandrock took over the ride and showed him in 2010. In 2011 he finished second behind Farouche at the British Young Horse Championships and went to the CDI Vidauban in France with Maria Eilberg.
In 2012 the stallion was sent to Germany to complete his lifetime licensing requirements and was trained and competed in the Bundeschampionate qualifiers by Susan Pape.
In 2013 he returned to the U.K., first to be shown by Sandrock and then Maria Eilberg took over the ride, but that was soon followed by Dutch Nars Gottmer competing him in the through the summer of 2013. As of 2014 it was Leah Beckett's turn for a few months, before Roberta Hayler began showing him in the summer of 2014. Paul Hayler got on board as of 2015 and Roberta took over the reins again in 2016. In 2017 he was back in Germany with Britta Baumgart.

The last two years Wavavoom did only a few shows, his final one being in June 2025, winning at Newbold Verdon equestrian centre.
Legacy
Wavavoom passed away on 16 February 2026.
"From a single foal in 2010 — crowned Hanoverian Champion — to heading the stallion rankings at the British Equestrian Federation Futurity in 2011 with 10 foals presented and six Elites, his impact was immediate and extraordinary," the British Hanoverian Society stated. "More than his achievements, Wavavoom will be remembered for his kind nature, presence, and the stamp he put on his progeny — modern, athletic, expressive horses with superb temperaments. His legacy lives on in arenas, breeding sheds and hearts across the UK and beyond."
He sired three licensed sons: Wild Child (out of WCYH champion Woodlander Farouche), the British riding pony Woodlander Wales (out of Drysiog Helen), and Words of Love (out of St. Barth von Bellin, by St. Moritz). His most successful offspring in sport is probably the CCI 3* eventing horse Watusi (under Brazilian André Parro).
