Costa Rican Mauricio Masis won the individual gold medal at the 2025 Central American Games in El Pulte, Guatemala, on 16 - 19 October 2025.
Central American Games
The Central American Games are a multi-sport regional championships event, held quadrennial, typically in the first year after Summer Olympics. The Games are open for member federations of the Central American Sports Organization ORDECA in Central American countries.
The competition is the second multi-sport event to have the name: the Central American and Caribbean Games began life in 1926 as the Central American Games and had this moniker until it expanded its remit in 1935.
Nations competing are Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama.
Gold for Mauricio Masis
The dressage competition of the Central American Games took place in El Pulte, Guatemala, and it was Costa Rican rider (Ronald) Mauricio Masis who grabbed the gold.
A field of 11 small tour combinations participated with 11 in the Prix St Georges, 10 in the Intermediaire I and six moving forward to the Kur to Music as only this few scored over 60% in the Inter I. The event was judged by Cunningham, Mesquia, Lopes, Weatherwax, and Majewska.
Masis and his 11-year old PRE bred Arlequin VII (by Periodista VII x Deco) had their international show debut in El Pulte and they won all three rounds. They scored 66.412% in the Prix St. Georges, 67.529% in the Intermediaire I, and 70.510% in the Intermediaire I Kur. Masis' stallion is bred by Manual Perez Marchena an owned by Ganadería Mirasol. Masis trains with judge and Grand Prix rider Gabriel Armando.

Top Three
The overall runner-up of these Games was Guatemalan Isabel Arzu Escobar aboard the 11-year old Hanoverian gelding Danzador KC (by San Amour x Ragazzo). She scored 64.735% in the PSG, 64.412% in the Intermediaire I, and 68.720 in the Kur to finish on an overall total for 197.867 points for second place. Arzu's horse Danzador was bred by and competed in Germany by Kahra Baumann before selling to Arzu, who has been showing the horse in the U.S.A.
Finishing third overall was Guatemalan Nicolle Fernandez Auer aboard the 12-year old PRE bred RM Cupertino (by FER Navegante x Dominante XII), bred in Spain by Roberto Moll Gonzalez. The pair posted 63.059% in the Prix St Georges, 63.147% in the Inter I, and 65.815% in the Kur.
Kur Medals

Masis won gold, Arzu silver and bronze went to Costa Rican rider Nicole Acosta (full name Eloisa Nicole Acosta Lopez), who inished third with Cali, a 16-year-old American Warmblood palomino gelding.
The 31-year old Acosta is born and raised in Costa Rica to a Costa Rican mother and Cuban-American father. She relocated to Texas in 2019, where she began her formal dressage training in 2020. She is coached by Lisa Blackmon.
Only two countries were in the running for the team medals: host nation Guatemala and Honduras. The latter saw one of its team of three eliminated and dropped out of the team ranking, so Guatemala became the automatic winner.
