Catherston Zahara Named 2025 British Hanoverian Supreme Champion

Catherston Zahara was named the 2025 British Hanoverian Supreme Champion at its annual show held in Warwick on 27 - 28 August 2025.

The British Hanoverian Horse Society (BHHS) introduced young horse classes at this event and for the first time featured a combined Young Horse Class and Mare Performance Test.

The judging panel at the show included Sara-Jane Lanning, Matt Hicks and Maren Schlender.

Catherston Zahara (by Zack x Breitling W x Laurentianer), bred, owned and ridden by former international youth rider Charlotte Dicker, was named the 6-year old champion and at the end of the day got named supreme champion of the show.

"Catherston Zahara impressed the judges with her natural self-carriage, rhythm, and high-quality paces. Her adjustability and composure were exceptional, earning her both the Mare Champion title and the overall Supreme Champion of the show," BHHS communicated.

The winner of the 4-year old class was D'Avril (by D'Avie x Royal Hit x Cardinar), bred and owned by Dan Hensen, and ridden by William Robert. D'Avril's dam Retro Hit became Reserve Champion in the "10 year and older" class and won the Mare Family class.

The 5-year old champion was F Devoto (by D’Egalite x Soliman de Hus x Likoto xx), bred by Sandy Senior; and owned and ridden by Jess Thompson. He was also the highest placed "ridden gelding" at the show.

Newton Quintessential (by Quarterhit x Revolution x Dream Boy), bred and owned by Lorna Wilson of Newton Stud, was named Foal champion. In a field of 11 filly foals she was crowned Champion Filly before returning for the overall championship, where she claimed the title of Supreme Champion Foal.
