German professional dressage rider Tessa Frank has bought Stable Abbendorf where the late German co-team trainer Jonny Hilberath had his base.
The barn was owned by Finnish Sara Aarnio, who collaborated with Jonny for the daily management of the stable.
Originally from Finland, Aarnio has lived in Switzerland and the U.K. before moving to Germany in 2015 and buying the Abbendorf property from a local farmer.
Hilberath moved to Stall Abbendorf in north Germany in the 2010s after he had started his independent business, first in Elmlohe in 1995. With the sudden passing of Jonny in March 2025, barn owner Sara Aarnio decided to sell the property.
The 39-year old Tessa Frank has now secured the equestrian centre. She will move from her base in Bispingen to Abbendorf at the start of 2026.
"I am very excited to move on," Frank told Eurodressage, confirming the move will happen next year in the winter. "There is a lot to organize."
