2025 Danish Young Horse Championships

The 4-year old Søbakkehus Miss Malfoy, the 5-year old Fürstenklang, the 6-year old Farringhton, and the 7-year old Bonsai became the winners of the 2025 Danish Young Horse Championships held at the new facility of Blue Hors stud in Martofte on 9 - 12 October 2025.

4-YO: Søbakkehus Miss Malfoy

In the 4-year old division 2024 Danish Elite Mare Champion, Søbakkehus Miss Malfoy (by the now gelded Hesselhoj Down Town x Sir Donnerhall), also proved her quality under saddle. With Anders Sjobeck Hoeck, the won the 4-year old champion's title on a score of 91.714%. The dark bay mare got 9.5 for walk, 8.9 for trot, 8.8 for canter, 9.5 for rideability and potential and 9 for harmony. Miss Malfoy is bred by Agnete Holmsted.

The silver went to Helle Emborg Bonnelycke on the Danish stallion Jackson M (by Jovian x Furstenball). The pair got 8.7 for walk and canter, 9 for trot, 8.5 for rideability, 8.8 for perspective, and 8.6 for harmony to finish on a total of 87.00%.

Anne-Mette Strandby and Stutteri EVO's Fraser (by Fynch Hatton x Desperados) got bronze with 86.714%. This stallion received 8.3 for walk, 8.6 for trot, 8.7 for canter, 8.8 for rideability and 8.7 for perspective and 8.8 for harmony.

5-YO: Fürstenklang

Cecilia Bergakra on NorCordia's Furstenklang

In the 5-year old finals, Swedish Grand Prix rider Cecilia Bergakra topped the board with the Hanoverian gelding Fürstenklang (by Furst Samarant x Rheinklang). The pair aced the division with 89.143 points staying well ahead of the competition. The bay gelding got 10 for walk, 8.3 for trot, 8.5 for canter, 8.8 for submission and perspective. The horse is owned by Danish horse dealing company NorCordia.

Betina Jaeger Jensen and her WCYH finalist Faustino G, Helene Geervliet's Danish bred stallion by Farrell x Sezuan, got the silver with 85.714 points. The long-legged bay got 8.5 for walk, 9 for trot, 8.4 for canter, 8.5 for submission and 8.8 for perspective.

The bronze was for Selina Solberg Vittinghus on her WCYH finalist Atterupgaards Daimi (by Springbank II x Bon Bravour). The pair totalled 85.286 points with 8.2 for walk, 9 for tort, 8.1 for canter, and 8.5 for submission and general impression.

6-YO: Farringhton

An impressive feat was accomplished in the 6-year old division as Danish Olympian Daniel Bachmann Andersen piloted the Hanoverian bred gelding Farringhton, the full brother of 5-year old championn Fürstenklang (by Furst Samarant x Rheinklang), to the title in this age category. This liver chestnut scored a winning total of 91.286% with 8.8 for walk, 9 for trot and canter, 8.8 for rideability, 9.3 for potential and 9.5 for harmony. Farringhton was owned by Danish horse dealing company NorCordia and ridden last year by Anne-Marie Hosbond before Bachmann got the ride. The horse sold to Frederikke Nissen almost a year ago.

Last year's 5-year old champion, licensed stallion Svalegards Hot Driver (by Hesselhoj Donkey Boy x Hotline), settled for silver this year. Under Carina Cassoe Kruth he scored 88.143% with 8.5 for walk, 8.6 for trot, 8.8 for canter and rideability, and 9 for perspective and harmony.

Last year's bronze medal winners, Susanne Barnow and Kjeldgardens Django (by Hesselhoj Donkey Boy x De Noir), were back to bronze with 87.429%. The dark bay received 9.2 for walk, 8.6 for trot, 8.5 for canter, 8.6 for rideability, 8.7 for potential and 8.8 for harmony.

7-YO: Bonsai

For the third year in a row, Nanna Skodborg Merrald and the Kirk Kristiansen family's Hanoverian bred mare Bonsai (by Baron x Royal Classic) won the title. The pair scored a whopping total of 82.215% for the victory with a technical score of 76.286% and quality scores of 7.5 for walk, 9.5 for trot, 8.6 for canter and submission and 9.5 for potential.

Susanne Barnow and the Danish bred stallion EQ Secret Surprise (by Secret x Gribaldi) were back in silver medal position, like last year. In the 7-year old finals they scored 81.572% with quality scores of 8.8 for walk and trot, 8.7 for canter, 8.8 for submission and 9 for perspective.

They edged out Lona Bang Zindorff on her WCYH finalist, FA Viviani (by Valverde x Tailormade Temptation) who finished third on 79.215%. The bright bay got 7.7 for walk, 8.5 for trot and canter, 8.3 for submission and 8.8 for permission.
