Two candidates, Diana al Shaer and Klaus Roeser, have stepped forward and are officially running for the position of Chair of the FEI Dressage Committee. The position will be voted upon at the 2025 FEI General Assembly in Hong Kong on 7 November 2025.

FEI Dressage Committee

The FEI Dressage Committee is the most powerful body for shaping international competition and mapping the future of competitive dressage sport.  The committee meets on regular times throughout the year mainly via teleconference as well as has several in-person meetings.

The committee includes six members: a chair and deputy chair and four members. In principle the members should reflect different stakeholder groups (judges, riders, trainers, show organizers), but in practice judges have been the ones found more willing to put in the work.

The current committee is chair by judge Maribel Alonso (MEX), while Monica Theodorescu (GER) is deputy chair. The four other committee members are judges Peter Storr (GBR) and Frederico Pinteus (POR), athletes representative Yvonne Losos de Muniz (DOM), and show organizer Thomas Eyckmans (BEL).

Members are elected for two terms of four years.

New Chair to be Elected

At the 2025 FEI General Assembly a new chair will be elected as Maribel Alonso has chosen not to run for a second term.

Alonso was voted as chair of the committee at the 2021 GA in Antwerp, successfully running against Martin Richenhagen (GER - former AGCO-FENDT ceo, former judge and current president of the German Equestrian Federation) and Ulf Helgstrand (DEN - former Vice President of the European Equestrian Federation (EEF) and former president of the Danish Equestrian Federation).

Klaus Roeser (GER) is deeply engrained in the structures of the German Equestrian Federation (FN), German Olympic Equestrian Committee (DOKR)  and already within the FEI. The FEI Dressage Committee will soon meet to discuss and announce its recommended candidate at the General Assembly. However,  the chair is elected by a majority vote (50% + 1) by the individual representatives of all National Equestrian Federations.

Peter Storr's position is also up for re-election. He has indicated that he wants to run a second term and his position will be (re-)appointed by the FEI board on 4 November 2025.
