Polish Grand Prix rider Magdalena Jura has officially retired her number one Grand Prix horse, Ron, from competition sport.

Ron is an 18-year old Polish warmblood by Samba Hit II out of Rewia (by Rabus x Ireneus). He is bred by Malgorzata Lisiecka.

Ten Years at International Grand Prix

One year after making her international show debut at small tour level as a rider on horses Billy Elliot (by Weltstein x Dixieland xx) and Emilio (by Ehrenpreis x Maraschino), Magdalena Jura premiered Ron on the CDI stage. In the summer they had placed sixth at the 2015 Polish Grand Prix Championships, before they rode their first international as a pair at the CDI Zakrzow in November 2015, where they scored 61.990%.

It was the start of an international Grand Prix career that would span ten years, with their last show being the CDI Achleiten in June 2024, where the horse was excused from the test.

In 2016 Jura rode on CDI in Stadl Paura and then took a two-year break from CDI showing. Based in Belgium at the time, Jura and Ron returned in April 2018 at Nieuw en St. Joosland, gradually pulling their Grand Prix score up. In 2018 they competed at CDI's in Compiegne, Aachen, Leudelange, and Exloo, followed by more starts in 2019 in Sint-Truiden, Donaueschingen and Waregem.

Another two-year break followed in corona times during which Jura relocated home to Poland to set up her own training and sales business. In 2020 she claimed her biggest national success: the gold medal and the title at the 2020 Polish Grand Prix Championships.

The pair returned to the CDI ring in November 2021 in Zakrzow to a 67.158% score. Another year and a half break followed and in 2023 they showed in Samorin and Olomouc before assisting Poland in winning an Olympic team ticket at the Group C Olympic team qualifier in Pilisjaszfalu. They scored 67.283% and withdrew from further tests at that show.

One year later, in May 2024 they showed in Redefin, followed by Achleiten, the horse's last international.

Retirement

Ron's retirement was celebrated in a ceremony at the 2025 Polish Dressage Championships in Bialy Las.

At the 2019 CDI Waregem
"We began our journey together 14 years ago when you first let me get on your back," Jura took to Facebook. "Since day one, I enjoyed every moment of our unique relationship, as well as sports partnership, as soon as fate allowed us to fight together on fours. We've been through ups and downs together, with a trembling heart, you've always remained consistent, patient and devoted. Now is the time for a thank you that is not the end of our journey. This is the beginning of the new chapter in your life that you so deserve."

Jura is continuing her sport career with a barn full of horses. This year she has been showing 5-year old Veritas (by Vitalis x Vivaldi) which she rode at the 2025 World Young Horse Championships in Verden, 6-year old BWP stallion True van de Guldennagel (by Governor x Quicksilver), 9-year old BWP bred Quick Star van de Guldennagel (by Special Agent Amour x Johnson), 11-year old KWPN gelding Johnny (by Ampere x Jazz), and 12-year old N Django van het Koekoekshof (by Desperados x Rosentau), amongst others.
