Lauranne Lammens has retired her number one, Belgian Under 25 team horse Hilcara van het Vijverbos, from sport.

Hilcara van het Vijverbos is an 18-year old Belgian warmblood mare by Don Renoir van de Helle out of Orrycara van het Vijverbos (by Feinschnitt I van de Richter x Lucky Boy xx).  She is bred by Guido Vanhumbeeck.

Growing Together

The Lammens family acquired Hilcara as a dressage horse for daughter Lauranne and the pair exceeded all expectations.

Lauranne made her national show debut on the black mare in 2014 when Hilcara was seven. Trained by Philippe Jorissen, the duo made its junior rider debut in 2015.

Their international debut followed at Young. Riders level four years later in June 2019 at the Future Champions CDI-Y in Hagen. They gained international mileage at CDI's in Waregem, Exloo, Aachen, Lier, Grote Brogel, Sint-Truiden, and Zandhoven.

Their Under 25 debut was in Grote Brogel in May 2021.

At the 2022 Europeans in Pilisjaszfalu, they made it to the freestyle finals and placed 17th with 69.145%. In 2023 in Pilisjaszfalu, they were 14th in the Kur with 71.945%.  At the 2024 Europeans in St. Margarethen they were 25th in the short Grand Prix with 65.615% and finally in 2025 in Kronberg they rode themselves to a 17th place in the Kur with 70.125%.

At the 2021 CDN Grote Brogel
At the Belgian Championships they were sixth as a young rider in 2019 and 2020, and as an Under 25 rider won bronze in 2021, were fourth in 2022, silver in 2023, and won gold in 2024. They were seventh in 2025.

Retirement

At the 2025 European Under 25 Championships Hilcara had her final competition ride in the freestyle final.

"I couldn’t have wished for a more beautiful way to say goodbye to Hili’s competition career," Lammens stated after Kronberg. "The past 13 years Hili has made all my dreams come true. Becoming a Grand Prix rider, Belgian Champion, winning multiple national and international competitions… You name it, she made it happen."
