Austria’s AWÖ Sets the Stage for First Hybrid Foal Auction in Stadl Paura

The Austrian Warmblood Association (AWÖ) is preparing for a landmark event: on 20 September 2025 at 19:00, the Karl Bauer Halle in Stadl Paura will host the first Hybrid Foal Auction, embedded in the festive setting of the Bundeschampionat. With the playful motto “I’m a Star, Get Me Out of Here!”, the evening promises an atmosphere of excitement and exclusivity.

A Collection Defined at the Last Minute

Unlike many foal auctions where the catalogue is finalised months in advance, the AWÖ is keeping its cards close to the chest. The collection will only be completed on the very day of the auction, when the top eight finalists of the Bundeschampionat join the line-up. This ensures that only the very best foals Austria has to offer will make it into the ring – each one tested against the toughest national competition.

This last-minute suspense highlights the depth of quality within Austrian breeding. Buyers can be certain that every foal presented is not just well bred, but also competition-proven and hand-picked for international potential.

  • Bon Laurie (by Bonds – Lauries Crusador), Out of an S-level successful dam, full brother to the 2021 auction price highlight.
  • Valerio (by V-Power – Desperados FRH), Western Austrian Champion with perfect 10.0 marks. Brother to World Championship competitors and Grand Prix athletes.
  • Broadmoars Fortunato (by Feliciano – Dannebrog), a Styrian highlight with a 9.0 movement score
  • Feromir (by For Romance – Bernay), Styrian Reserve Champion and relative of Grand Prix horse Rondoro Noblesse.
  • Valentino de Rossi (by Va Bene – De Niro), Styrian Champion with repeated 10.0 marks.

Showjumping genetics are equally present with Uranus (by United Hearts – Casinos), Chappeline KE (by Chappeloup – Don VHP), and Oakley (by Chaloubino PS OLD – Checkter), all of them closely tied to proven sport families.

Buyers will be able to bid live in Stadl Paura, online, or by phone. Guests at the venue can enjoy a gala dinner overlooking the auction ring, with German auctioneer Volker Raulf conducting the sale.
