Only two weeks after losing the ride on her Dutch team horse Venicia OLD, young rider Micky Schelstraete has welcomed a new FEI horse in the barn: Bundeschampionate ride Morning Star.

Morning Star is a 7-year old Oldenburg gelding by Feinrich out of Torella (by Totilas x Don Frederico).

Schockemöhle Lines

The black gelding is bred out of one of Paul Schockmeöhle's treasured mare lines going back on Saniza, who produced the licensed stallions Rosandro, Royalist, and Be Sart. Grand dam Dosalla sired Top Gear as well as Venicia OLD.

The Hong Kong based company "Kemperten Capital HK Limited" is listed as breeder of Morning Star. They also own Schockemöhle bred jumper Centuria, Henrik von Eckermann's First One, and Morning Star's dam Torella and full sister Samsara

The owner is Taiwanese Carole Hweijan Lee, who also owned Venicia.

Annika Korte and Dries van Dijck

Morning Star was first competed by German Annika Korte in March 2023 at A-level, but German based Belgian Dries van Dijck briefly took over in July and showed him for one year from July 2023 till May 2024.

Korte was back on board at the end of May 2024 and competed the horse at the Bundeschampionate in Warneorf, where he was 25th in the 6-year old Consolation Finals.

In 2025 Korte rode the gelding in 15 tests throughout the year, including the 2025 Bundeschampionate, where they landed 20th place in the 7-year old consolation final with 69.561%.

Holland Bound

Morning Star has now made the move to The Netherlands where Micky Schelstraete has taken over the reins.
