The Swedish equestrian federation has announced updated Grand Prix squads going into the final stretch of 2025.
Brand new team captain Sfefan Jansson has particularly updated the B-squad ("challenger squad") while the A-squad remains the same.
To be considered for the B-team scores of minimum 68% in national Grand Prix, and 67 percent in international Grand Prix at a consistent level are required. Results at the Swedish Championships are considered as an international competition.
The updated B-squad includes
- Therese Nilshagen
- Beata Soderberg
- Jeanna Hogberg
- Matthias Jansson
- Rebecca Mauleon
- Vendela Eriksdotter Rubin
- Cecilia Bergåkra
"It feels great to be back," said Olympian Therese Nilshagen who has begun her climb back to the top with Navarro (by Negro) since the retirement of Dante Weltino. "Even though we are not at the highest level yet, I have dreamed of getting there again. I am humbled by the task, knowing that there is a long way to go to the top, but being part of the B-team is a fantastic step in the right direction."
"I have dreamed of being in the senior squad ever since I made my Grand Prix debut as a young teenager," said Cecilia Bergåkra, who is also part of the U25 squad with My Friend. "When Izack and I won the Swedish Championship silver medal this summer, it was confirmation that we belong at this level. I have ridden him from junior times and now up to senior level so this means a lot."
Jansson has also added names to the two training groups: the development group for developing Grand Prix pairs and the observation group for developing Prix st Georges horses. The development group has received two new additions in Filippa Norrman and Marina Mattsson. Five new names join the observation group for the autumn season through Emelie Aldenfalk, Lovisa Jendland, Ida-Linn Lundholm and Clara Zimmer.
