
Jolene Hill, the Danish mare which took Tobias Thorning Jorgensen to the Paralympic Champion's title, has been retired from competition sport. The 2025 European Para Championships last weekend were her final show.
Jolene Hill is a 17-year old Danish warmblood mare by Schufro Hit out of Java Hill (by Windsor). She is bred by Hanne Andreasen.
From the Breeder to Blue Hors
The mare was initially competed by Tenna Ibsen Andreasen from 2015 till 2018. She produced the mare up to Prix St Georges level.
Jolene Hill sold to Signe and Thomas Kirk Kristiansen of the Lego family who owns Blue Hors stud and made her debut with Signe in August 2018 at MB-level. She competed her through November 2018
Serial Gold Medal Winners
In 2013 Tobias was diagnosed with myopathy, a condition that affects his muscle fibres. He made his debut in para sport in 2015 with Bruunholms Caribean (by Hertug x Laban Agerbo). Jolene Hill became his career maker.
Tobias and Jolene Hill first represented Denmark at the 2019 European Para Dressage Championships in Rotterdam, where they won double gold and team bronze.
At the 2021 Paralympics in Tokyo they won double gold and finished fourth with the team. At the 2022 World Championships in Herning, there was again double gold and team silver. At the 2023 Europeans in Riesenbeck, another set of double gold medals was achieved, the team was sixth.
Tobias and Jolene Hill made a come back at the CPEDI Hagen in June 2025, where they placed second. At the 2025 European Para Dressage Championships in Ermelo, Jolene Hill was sent to the holding box, but then passed. They won double silver and team bronze.
Retirement
"There were a lot of emotions when I came out of the arena but right now is the right time for her to end with three medals," said Tobias after the Kur in Ermelo. "After everything she’s been through, I’m just proud of her to even be here and for everything she’s done for me and for Para Dressage in Denmark."
