The 21-year old broodmare Romanik was named "Danish Warmblood Mare of the Year 2025 at the annual DWB elite mare show in Vilhelmsborg on 29 - 31 August 2025.
Out of Romanik's line no less than 17 international Grand Prix horses and 19 licensed stallions came.
Romanik is a 2004 born mare by Romanov out of Dunja (by Don Schufro x Luxemburg). She is bred by Marianne Helgstand. She won a bronze medal at the Danish Warmblood elite mare show as a youngster.
She is the direct dam to four international Grand Priw horses, including the late Zonik (by Zack), Straight horse Cosmo (by Grand Galaxy Win), Straight horse Sezarion (by Sezuan), and Straight horse Zackonik (by BH Zack). Blue Hors Santiano is competing at small tour level.
The Broodmare of the Year award was founded in 2021 to pay tribute to special mares.
"We are privileged in Danish Warmblood to have very strong mare lines that are managed wisely by our passionate breeders and which can therefore always be found where it really counts and the performances must speak for themselves. Romanik is a mare that belongs in that category," said DWB inspector Vicky Nortvig.
