Prinsjesdag Foal Auction

The Oldenburg bred Sir Romance became the top selling foal in the 2025 Prinsjesdag foal auction held at De Droom Hoeve in The Netherlands on 23 August 2025.

A collection of 31 dressage and jumping bred foals was on offer.

Sir Romance (by Sir Donnerhall x Ferro x Romancier) sold for €20,000 to Marieke Heilig and Johan Spaansen of Okidoki Stables in Nieuwe Niedorp (NED)

Vinto Vinted JS (by Vjento x For Romance) also found a new owner for €19,000, and Vanquish (by One Million x San Remo) changed hands for €18,000.

Viva Trichta van de Westen (by McLaren x Apache) fetched 17,000 euro

Vision VK (by McLaren x Damon Hill) sold for 15,000 euro and Vivalita C (by Real Dream x Cachet L) had a hammer price of 13,000 euro. Also the half brother to Dutch Olympic team horse Hermes, Versailles (by Zackerey x Flemmingh), sold for 13,000 euro to Dinja van Liere and her close friend, Marlies Woudenberg.

Vabriano Texel (by Toto Jr x Negro) and Verodelin E (by Dutch Dream x Bordeaux) went for 12,000 euro, Victorien (by V-Power x Wynton) and Viva La Selly (by For Romance x Wynton) sold for 11,000 euro.

Valkyrie-K van Kattenheye (by Elastic x Don Juan de Hus), Versace Gold from KVB (by First Magic x Furst Jazz), and Valeta Rose BSW (by Powerbank x For Romance) went for 10,000 euro.

The price of eight foals got stuck at 6,000 euro.

Nearly 80% from the collection was sold, mostly to buyers of colts. The average price for a foal was €10,000 according to the organizers.

"We are incredibly grateful for the Broersen family's efforts; thanks in part to their cooperation and the fantastic location, we had a wonderful evening," said Gert Wezenberg on behalf of the Prinsjesdag Foal Auction board. "The entire team worked incredibly hard to create a unique auction, and we absolutely succeeded. We look forward to going even further next year. For now, we are focusing on the fourth and final auction of the year: the traditional Prinsjesdag auction in Ermelo, this time entirely dedicated to show jumping foals."
