The Finnish Equestrian Federation has appointed Jenny Eriksson and Terhi Stegars as new additions to its technical staff for dressage for a four-year term starting on 1 September 2025.
Raise International Competition
"The coach selection process initiated by the Finnish Equestrian Federation's elite sports management group, HUJO, in the spring yielded the desired result," the Finnish NF posted. "The selection process took into account and emphasized the ambitious goals and strategy of the Finnish Equestrian Federation's elite sports. The goal is to raise the international competence and competitive success of both coaching and riders in their own age groups."
Tom Gordin, HUJO chair, added, "In line with the new top-level sports program and its strategies, we wanted to invest in international expertise and seek more know-how from actors in the most successful countries. Good international connections and contacts with sports centers also influenced our choices. We are also looking for even higher-quality operating methods, where cooperation across sport boundaries and mutual communication are at the center."
Finnish Technical Staff Dressage
The newly appointed technical staff for dressage includes:
- Tanja Takkula, senior national team captain (2025-2028)
- Jenny Eriksson, International Supervisor (2025-)
- Terhi Stegars, youth national team coach; U25, young riders and juniors (shared)
- Marko Björs, youth national team coach; juniors (shared), child and pony riders, national team coaching and talent search covering the whole of Finland
"I am incredibly honored," said Stegars about her appointment. "This is a truly meaningful opportunity for me, not just to guide and coach on the technical side of riding, but to support the next generation of Finnish riders in a much deeper way. For me, this role is also about mentorship. It is about passing on the knowledge I have gained over the years, and helping riders grow into well-rounded sportspersons. I believe in working smarter, not just harder. In teaching the life lessons that make great athletes, not just good riders."
For para dressage
- Tanja Takkula, national team captain (for now, recruitment of a new one is underway)
- Janne Bergh, national team coach
In addition, negotiations on an international expert for the Paralympic project are in the final stretch.
