Fashion in Black Sold to The Netherlands

The 10-year old Westfalian licensed stallion Fashion in Black has been sold to The Netherlands. He will continue as a sport horse with Dutch young rider team member Yasmin Westerink.

Fashion in Black is a 2015 born black stallion by For Romance out of Laurieana (by Lauries Crusador xx x Donnerhall). He is bred by Matthias Böckermann.

Licensing Champion

Owned by Wilhelm Holkenbrink, Fashion in Black was presented at the 2017 Westfalian Stallion Licensing in Munster, where he was named champion.

He did the 50-day stallion performance test in the autumn of 2018 in Schlieckau and scored 8,89 for dressage and 7 for show jumping.

As a breeding stallion he has 94 offspring registered with the German FN. He has no licensed sons.

Sport Career

The stallion has been shown by three riders in his career so far: Johanna Klippert, Sophie Holkenbrink and Melanie Gessmann.

He made his show debut in 2019 with Klippert, finishing second at the Bundeschampionate. In 2020 he returned to Warendorf and placed 17th in the 5-year old finals. Two months earlier he made his CDI debut in the young horse tests in Hagen to score 80.60 and 84.20%.

In 2021 Sophie Holkenbrink took over the ride and landed 8th place in the warm-up round at the Bundeschampionate, but withdrew from the finals. They made the transition to S-level in 2022 and stayed at small tour level through 2025. In 2025 he showed once under Melanie Gessmann at S* level, scoring 67.540% at a home show in Nienberger-Schonebeck.

Fashion in Black has now been sold to the Westerink family in The Netherlands as a second iron in the fire for Yasmin to ride alongside Amphitryon

Westerink trains with Adelinde Cornelissen and most recently won team silver at the 2025 European Young Riders Championships in Kronberg, where she placed 8th in the Kur to Music finals.
