Gestut Sprehe's internationally competed Grand Prix horse Destiny OLD has been retired from competition sport.

Destiny OLD is a 16-year old Oldenburg by Desperados out of Samira (by Sandro Hit x Argentinus). He is bred by Diedrich Wiggers.

Sandra Nuxoll

The bay gelding was first owned, trained and competed by Austrian born German Sandra Nuxoll (née Kopf).

Their show debut was in 2014 at L- level and they finished 11th at the 2015 Bundeschampionate in Warendorf.  They made the transition to developing Prix St Georges horse level in 2016 and qualified for the 2016 Nurnberger Burgpokal Finals. At the Finals in Frankfurt they finished 10th.

Kristina Sprehe

In March 2017 Destiny sold to the Sprehe family for Rio Olympic medal winner Kristina Bröring-Sprehe as as a successor for her career making horse, Desperados.

Sprehe had her international premier on Destiny at the 2017 CDIO Aachen at small tour level and competed in Darmstadt two months later.  A three year break from international sport followed for Destiny and he made his international Grand Prix debut at the CDI Herning in March 2020, winning both the Grand Prix and Special. It was the pair's first and last CDI together.

Sprehe rode Destiny at one more national show in Herbergen-Essen in June 2020. That was the horse's last competition as Destiny sustained an injury.

Beatrice Arturi

After a 3-year old break from showing, Destiny OLD made a come back at Under 25 Grand Prix level with Italian Beatrice Arturi, who is an assistant rider at Gestüt Sprehe.

Trained by Sabine Rueben, the pair scored a double victory at the 2023 CDIO Pilisjaszfalu with 69.559% in the Intermediaire II and 69.231% in the short Grand Prix.  They won in Samorin and went to the 2023 European Under 25 Championships in Pilisjaszfalu, where they finished 11th in the Kur to Music.

In 2024 The pair did two CDI's (Troisdorf, St. Margarethen), winning three out of four classes. At the 2024 European Under 25 Championships in St. Margarethen they were 16th in the Kur.

This year the pair did another two CDi's: Lier and Aachen Festival 4 Dressage to qualify for their third, consecutive European U25 Championships in Kronberg. Destiny had difficulties getting through the vet check but passes. He finished 31st in the Short Grand Prix.

Retirement

Kronberg became the last international show for Destiny OLD. He will be retired from competition sport.

"He meant a lot to me," Arturi told Eurodressage about the meaning of Destiny in her career. "He is my one and only Destiny! I love him...really. He is always giving his all to me"

When asked what Destiny were to say to her if he could speak, Beatrice replied, "Let's Rock Bea!".  Arturi explained, "when we have to go to the competition he is trotting into the lorry. He really loves to work and go to the competition, but now he deserved his time off in the paddock."
