The British equestrian federation has announced the riders which have been selected to compete at the summer 2025 European Youth Championships.

Following a successful spring international season, the British Dressage U21 Selectors confirmed the combinations for Team GB.

The European Children, Pony, and Junior Championships take place in Le Mans (FRA) 28 July - 3 August, while the European Young Riders and Under 25 Championships take place in Kronberg (GER) on 10 - 13 July.

No Pony Team

Remarkably after finishing fourth with the team and winning the Kur gold medal (Abigail gray) at last year's European Pony Championships, British Dressage is not fielding a single pony pair this year!

BD International Director Judy Harvey commented, "this year, we have decided not to select a Pony team. After a lot of discussion and consideration, the Selection Panel collectively agreed that our young riders in this age category were not quite ready to compete at championship level. Instead, we will be committed to providing extra development opportunities for our Pony riders and reallocating resources to fund an additional training camp in the autumn."

Harvey continued, “while podium success is always our primary aim, the development and longevity of our young athletes is also at the forefront of our decision making.  These Selection decisions are based on what we believe is in the best interests of our youth riders, to support their future progression in the sport."

No less than six British pony pairs were short-listed for team selection. They are Ella Fraser  (Brouwershaven’s Viceroy), Martha Jones (Cognac IX), Mimi Kempster  (Che Bello), Sophia Longworth  - (Don De Luxe), Queenie Moule  (Amden Supreme Golden Dancer), and Molly Powell  (Mr Diego). At the recent observation trial at CDI Wellington Heckfield these riders were all scoring between 65 - 69%.
