Sonny sold in January 2022 to Monaco Sporthorses, the company of rider Christian Simonson and his mother Christina Morgan.
In 2023 they moved into the senior small tour division, won the U.S. Small Tour Championships and were selected on the U.S. team for the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, where they won team gold and were the highest small tour scorers.
In 2024 the pair moved to Under 25 level. They did two CDI's in Wellington and competed at the North American Under 25 Championships, where they won individual test silver and kur gold. It was the pair's last CDI show. They also won the national title at the 2024 U.S. Under 25 Championships.
In January 2025 they competed in one more national Inter II test.
Sold to Mexico
Son of a Lady has now been sold to Mexican Mauricio Lebrija, who trains with Severo Jurado Lopez in Germany.
Mauricio Lebrija told Eurodressage that Sonny will initially stay in Germany with Severo before flying him to Mexico in the late autumn.
"I will be traveling as much as possible to Riesenbeck to train with Severo so we get to know each other better and maybe even do a small show or two," said Lebrija.
Jurado has been riding several of Lebrija's horses, including the recently sold Kenzo, and the licensed stallion Viva Mexico. The Mexican Lebrija has farms in Texas and San Miguel de Allende.
