Shannon Peters, wife of U.S. Olympian Steffen Peters, has taken over the ride on Mani's Endeavor, the horse tipped as Suppenkasper's successor.
Mani's Endeavor is a 9-year old Hanoverian gelding by Morricone out of Flox (by Foundation x Hohenstein x World Cup I). He is bred by Elizabeth Kapp and owned by American Nasri Mani.
Mani's Endeavor
The bay gelding arrived in California in February 2019 as a 3-year old and was first competed by Matt Cunningham. By the autumn of 2020 Shannon Peters was on board and she showed him briefly.
In February 2021 Mani handed the ride over to Jennifer Hoffmann, who premiered him in the national show ring in June 2021 in San Diego. Their international show debut was in Wellington in March 2022, where they won the 6-year old international young horses classes. Their scores earned them a berth to the 2022 World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo for Team USA. They finished 16th in the 6-year old Finals. In 2023 Hoffmann and Mani's Endeavor returned to Wellington and did one CDI in the 7-year old division. The goal was to re-qualify for the 2023 World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo, but they were stopped in their tracks.
In the spring of 2023 Endeavor was in Germany and owner Mani put the horse in the care of Sarah and Lee Tubman.
Steffen Peters
Endeavor went back to California to Steffen and Shannon Peters.
Changes in the Barn
After the Olympic Games, where Steffen rode his 6th Olympics, his sponsor Akiko Yamazaki took home Steffen's top ride Suppenkasper and upcoming hopeful Lombard (now with Nicholia Clarke).
Steffen took a break from riding to deal with health issues, particularly neuropathy, which is damage or dysfunction of the peripheral nerves. During his recovery he is focusing on teaching.
"Steffen has not ridden since October," Shannon told Eurodressage. "Hoping to some day again, but trying to get the neuropathy sorted out."
"Had so much fun at Del Mar National, doing a last minute entry in the CDI small tour with Nasrin Mani’s lovely Endeavor," Shannon took to Facebook. "He has so much heart and willingness to work , and is truly the kindest horse . He is well on his way to Grand Prix , and I am so excited to continue his training to get there."
Shannon told Eurodressage, "I just showed him at Del Mar to get him back In the ring again - it had been since Europe last summer. He has a very good Piaffe /Passage , and we are aiming for the I2 this summer."
