Spanish Grand Prix rider and trainer Luis Lucio will be conducting a clinic in Brazil on 9 - 11 May 2025 as part of the first steps towards Brazilian team selection for the Odesur Games and 2026 World Championships in Aachen.

Looking towards Aachen 2026

In February the Brazilian Equestrian Federation (CHB) announced the team selection criteria for the 2026 WCD in Aachen. All combinations able to meet the FEI's minimum eligibility requirements (MER - 2x 66%) will be able to participate in the selection process. Only the Grand Prix test score ridden in CDI 3* and higher will be considered.

The combinations that obtain the highest percentages will be selected. The scores need to be achieved in the period from 1 January 2025 until the 2026 nominative entry date.

If no three teams obtain the scores to be eligible to make up the Brazilian team, up to two individual riders may represent Brazil at the 2026 World Championships.

Horses considered for a spot on the Brazilian team are subject to validation by the veterinarian designated by the CBH. Positive doping cases will be automatically eliminated from the observation process. And the selection of an athlete who is under an FEI yellow card or any other disciplinary penalty will be subject to the authorization of the CBH presidency.

Lucio Clinic

The Brazilian NF - which is now led by the a newly appointed director, dressage judge Claudia Mesquita -  has announced that the Luis Lucio clinic is part of the observation and preparation process towards team selection for the 2026 World Championships in Aachen and 2026 South American Games (Odesur) in in Santa Fe-Rosario (ARG), 12-26 September 2026. Ten pairs will be invited to the clinic.

Luis Lucio is the former Spanish Technical Dressage Director and FEI Dressage Committee member. He represented Spain at the 1989 European Championships in Mondorf les Bains on Parvenue and at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney on Aljarefe. His last CDI show wazs in February 2012 in Vejer de la Frontera on Os-Nervi.

MER scores

At the moment only one Brazilian rider already achieved his first MER score of two: Renderson Oliveira on Fogoso at the 2025 CDI-W Neumunster. Murilo Machado on Jorge VO came close in March with a 66.848% at the CDI Sao Paulo in March, but he got the 66% from only one 5* judge and two 5* judges need to give that score.

In the past Norbert van Laak has officiated as Brazilian team trainer. For the 2026 cycle no official team trainer has been appointed.
