
Ikke-Pia van de Bergerhoeve, a four-time Belgian Team horse, has been retired from sport. The 17-year old is now enjoying a slower pace in life.
Ikke-Pia van de Bergerhoeve is a 2008 born Belgian warmblood by San Amour out of international Grand Prix mare Pikante-Pia van de bergerhoeve (by Donnerhall x Alcanar xx). He is bred and owned by Hugo Jorissen.
Lore Vandeborne
The black gelding was shown from the start by Lore Vandeborne, who debuted him nationally in 2014 as a 6-year old.
They gradually moved up the levels and rode their first Young Riders test in Massenhoven in April 2017. Their international show debut was two months later in Pompadour, followed by Diepenbeek. They were nominated on the Belgian team for the 2017 European Young Riders Championships in Roosendaal, where they were 32nd in the individual test with 67.605%. They were 6th at the 2017 Belgian Young Riders Championships.
Under 25
In 2021 they achieved several top five placings in Sint-Truiden, Opglabbeek and Grote-Brogel and won the 2021 Belgian Under 25 Championships. At the CDI Meerle they won their first international test in the Inter II with 70.030%. At the 2021 European U25 Championships in Hagen, they placed 22nd in the short Grand Prix with 66.359%
Senior Team Member
A longer break from showing followed after Herning and they returned in Rotterdam in 2023, followed by riding the 4* at the CDIO Aachen and the CDI Kronenberg in July. Their scores were not high enough anymore for the improving Belgian team that went to the 2023 Europeans in Riesenbeck, where they clinched a team ticket for the 2024 Olympics.
After 7-month break from international competition Lore and Ikke-Pia's rode their last show in their career at the CDI Lier in March 2024, where they posted 68.500% in the Grand Prix and placed 6th in the Kur with 73.305%.
Retirement
The 17-year old Ikke-Pia van de Bergerhoeve has been retired from sport.
"He's enjoying his retirement in the field," Lore told Eurodressage.
Lore is continuing her show career with her own 5-year old Oldenburg Sunique (by So Unique x Sandro hit) and Suraya Hendrikx’ 7-year old KWPN bed Nadal (by Feel Good x Olivi). She recently made her Grand Prix debut on the 12-year old Rhinelander registered Explosion-Pia van de Bergerhoeve (by Everdale out of San Amour Pia van de Bergerhoeve (by San Amour)) at the CDN Oud-Turnhout on 6 April 2025.
