Zarenstern, champion of the 2025 Oldenburg Saddle Licensing and price highlight of the auction

Zarenstern, the new named champion of the 2025 Oldenburg saddle licensing, became the best selling horse in the Oldenburg Spring Elite Auction on 13 April 2025.

A collection of 45 horses was up for auction, including some licensed and non-licensed stallions. 

Bred and owned by the Von Merveldt family, Zarenstern (by Zuperman x San Amour) became the price highlight, finding a new owner for 150,000 euro. He will move to Lovsta Stuteri in Sweden.

Also breaking the €100,000 mark was the 4-year old gelding Dynamic Prince (by Dynamic Dream x Foundation) bred by Andrea Kotschofsky and owned by Flicka Ventures GmbH, Berlin. The bay sold for €117,000 to an American client of British Olympian Emile Faurie in the United Kingdom. A second client of Faurie secured the 4-year old Roxana Girl (by Rockabye S x Stedinger) for €25,500.

Dynamic Prince
The premium stallion Invictus Negro (by Ibiza Dream x Florestan), who was named reserve champion of the saddle licensing, sold for 75,000 euro to Dutch horse dealer and stallion owner Rom Vermunt.

A new customer from Cologne bought Bon Vivant Ballante (by Bonds x  Sir Donnerhall), bred by Stefaan van den Elsen in Belgium, for €72,000, and Belmondo Blue (by Bernay x  Dormello) for €30,000.

Gritt's Perfect AK (by So Perfect x Indian Rock) will stay in Germany for 70,000euro, while Johannes Westendarp's licensed Bajac (by Bordeaux x Laurentio) sold for 60,000 euro.

The non-licensed Summerhit (by Sir Donnerhall x For Romance) sold for 45,500 euro to Switzerland.

Moving Abroad

Invictus Negro
Spanish agent Cristina Figueroa, who has been working closely with Oldenburg Sales Manager Thomas Rhinow for years, purchased five Oldenburg young stars for clients from Spain, Sweden, and Portugal. A long and successful partnership that continues to bear fruit. Spanish Eva Quintela Farell bought Quality First (by Quaterback x Königsmarck) for 40,000 € and Mama Mia (by Moreno x Supertramp xxx Wolkentanz II) also goes to Spain for 25,000 €.

International interest in Oldenburg elite horses was once again overwhelming. One-third of the collection was sold to Oldenburg friends around the globe. Buyers came from Spain (3), Italy (2), Sweden (2), Switzerland (2), the United Kingdom (2), Belgium (1), France (1), the Netherlands (1), and Hungary (1), and will now be riding talented Oldenburg horses.

Bon Vivant Ballante
Italians bought Friesland GI (by For Dance x Laureus) for 56,000 euro, Swedes bought the licensed Zafiro (by Zoom x Santino) for 41,000 euro, while a Hungarian paid the same price for the licensed Damissario (by Damaschino x Furst Belissaro). A Swiss client bought the non-licensed It's Me (by It's Easy x St. Schufro) for 20,000 euro. Dandy (by Dancier Gold x Roadster) goes to Belgium for 19,500 euro. A Frenchman got Demoiselle Fynnia (by Fynch Hatton x Damon Hill) for 14,500 euro.

The average price for the riding horses settled at around €29,000. The licensed stallions averaged around €63,000, while unlicensed stallions fetched an average of €29,000.
