Belgian Olympian Jorinde Verwimp has welcomed a new Grand Prix horse into her barn, Jedai de Massa.
Jedai de Massa is a 10-year old Portuguese Sport Horse bred gelding by Don Juan de Hus out of Mina de la Font (by Galopin de la Font). He is bred by Sylvain Massa.
France
The horse first came into the picture on the French competition scene after he was gelded in 2018.
He was first competed by Arnaud Serre as a 5-year old and in 2020 became the reserve champion as a 6-year old at the French Young Horse Championships under Nicolas Giraud.
Sold to Korea
At the end of 2021 the horse sold to Korean Eon Jin Chin, who also bought Zocraat, Lancelot, Fancy, Bolena and Vicomte de Reyves in France between 2017 and 2022.
Jedai de Massa moved into training with Belgian Tom Franckx, who also rode Grand Prix horse Wadest for Chin at the time.
In the spring of 2023 Jedai de Massa relocated to Cathrine Dufour in Denmark to be further produced to Grand Prix level.
Jorinde Verwimp
"The plan is that I will compete him but we're not in a hurry. First we need to become a good combination," Jorinde told Eurodressage. "He schools at Grand Prix level but it's not established yet. Hopefully he'll be a nice extra competition horse."
Verwimp has been a fixed member of the Belgian squads and teams from pony level through Grand Prix. She began on pony Tonkawa SD and with horse Tiamo she moved from juniors to Olympic Grand Prix level. She was Belgian champion on Tiamo in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2017 and competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Her number one Grand Prix horse at the moment is Charmer (by Charmeur x Quatro B) which she rode at the 2023 World Cup Finals in Omaha.
