Glamourdale, a multiple gold medalist at the 2022 World Championships and 2023 European Dressage Championships, has been named 2023 KWPN Horse of the Year for the second time.

The son of Lord Leatherdale (out of Thuja stb pref prest by Negro, bred by J.W. Rodenburg from Ouderkerk aan den IJssel) garnered the most public votes. The two-time world champion added European team gold and individual European Championship silver to his impressive list of achievements this year. In the 2023 world cup competition in 's Hertogenbosch, Glamourdale and Charlotte Fry remained unbeatable, as well as in the 5-star competition in Fontainebleau and the 3-star competition in Kronenberg.

The stallion is ridden by British Charlotte Fry and owned by Van Olst Horses.

National Media

The success of the breeding behind Glamourdale was emphasized in the national media last month. Breeder grand daughters Jasmijn and Isabel van der Velden spoke with newspaper De Telegraaf about their late grandfather's breeding.

"My grandfather had a good sense of what a horse should possess. He was able to convey the qualities of a stallion and a mare to a foal. I remember him telling me what to look for while mucking out the stables, something we did together. I still benefit from that advice to this day," Jasmijn told De Telegraaf.

The celebration of the Dressage Horse of the Year will take place during the Friday evening of the KWPN Stallion Show.
