Dressage Horse Performance Center Lodbergen (DLZ) has announced the passing of their business starting breeding stallion, Rubin Royal OLD. He was 27 years old

Rubin Royal was by Rohdiamant out of Rumirell (by Grunstein II x Akzent II). He was bred by Harli Seifert.

In sport Rubin Royal OLD won the final qualifier at the Bundeschampionat for young dressage horses under Dieter Weichert. In the final itself, he ranked twelfth.  In 2005, he also placed eighth in the final of the Nurnberger Burgpokal.

In 2006 he switched riders and Hendrik Lochthowe won or placed in the Grand Prix arena in Dortmund, Bremen, Münster, Berne, Aachen, Turin, Donaueschingen, Munich and Stuttgart. They won the silver medal at the Westphalian regional Championships. In 2007, Rubin Royal OLD was named he VTV Oldenburg dressage stallion of the year.

End of an Era

The death of the dark bay stallion, who was always full of energy, also marks the end of an era in Lodbergen. Rubin Royal OLD was one of the founding stallions of his breeder Harli Seifert's stallion station, from which the DLZ emerged in 2008.

"We are immensely sad to have lost this stallion, who gave us so much pleasure in his daily handling and whom we would have so gladly allowed many more 'pensioner years'," explained Wolfgang Stagge, Operations Manager of the DLZ. "Thank you, Rubin Royal - you were very, very special! And you will leave a big gap."
