Austrian young rider Pia Stallmeister has returned to the competition arena with a catch ride she got from fellow Austrian Felicita Simoncic. The 21-year old Stallmeister made her show debut on Korefan.

Korefan is a 10-year old Russian warmblood by Komandor out of Las Falma (by Los Angeles). He is bred by Olymp Kubani.

The Simoncic family sourced the bay gelding in Elena Sidneva's barn, a former Russian team rider who is based in Austria. He was meant as her junior rider's horse after finishing her career on ponies.

Felicita competed the bay gelding at one international show, the CDI Mariakalnok in May 2021, at junior level.

Simoncic moved to Young Riders' level in 2022 and partnered with her top ride, Ivar (by Ampere x Olivi) as well as Connery Junior, (by Connery x Rohdiamant) with Korefan's competition career a bit more on the back burner.

Two weeks ago the Simoncic family asked Pia to ride Korefan while Stallmeister's own horse, the 16-year old KWPN gelding Cantano Tetti (by Santano x Ferro) is sidelined with an injury.

"We thought it is a good opportunity to let her show him so her full concentration is on him," Felicita told Eurodressage. Simoncic has her hands full with her own four horses and Korefan gets a chance to shine with Pia.

Stallmeister made her international show debut on ponies in 2015? She competing Diogenes ut Deuten (by FS Disagio x Patrick) and Sulaika (by Merlin x Bolero) first, before ponies Der Kleine Prinz (by Der Harlekin B x Leuth Koriolan) and Auheims Maximus (by Horsegate Minstrel x Capitol) propelled her career forward. In 2018 she became the Austrian Pony Champion. In 2020 Pia made the transition to junior level with Cantano Tetti and in 2021 she moved to Young Riders level.

Less than fourteen days into their partnership, Pia and Korefan made their show debut at the national show in Weikersdorf, Austria on 17 - 19 March 2023 which counted as a CDI selection trial for Austrian youth riders. They scored 65.306% in the warm up round, 66.105% in theYR teal test, and 64.289% in the individual test
