Aspiring Under 25 rider Luca Collin has sold her Young Riders' team medal winning horse Descolari to a fellow German junior rider. The black will continue his sport career under German pony rider Alessa Marie Maass.

Descolari is a 13-year old Hanoverian by Desperados x Weltmeyer x Legat, bred by Manfred Zimmermann.

Licensed Stallion

Owned by Gestut Sprehe, he was licensed and named reserve champion at the 2012 Brandenburg Stallion Licensing in Neustadt/Dosse. He sold at auction for 110,000 euro to the Brandenburg state stud.

Descolari did his 30-day suitability test a year later, scoring 7.46 for dressage and 7.53 for show jumping (overall 7.67). In 2014 he did the 70-day performance test in Neustadt/Dosse and got 7.70 for dressage and 7.38 for jumping (overall 7.68).

Lena Feistkorn began competing him in 2014 until June 2015.

Isabell Werth

A two year break from showing followed, when Descolari resurfaced in West Germany in May 2017. Isabell Werth had taken over the development of the stallion as part of a collaboration with the state stud in Neustadt/Dosse, which began with Belantis.

Isabell Werth's assistant trainer, Austrian Lisa Wernitznig, competed Descolari between May 2017 and July 2018.  To secure a coveted place in the 2018 Nurnberger Burgpokal Finals for developing PSG horses, Werth climbed onboard and won the Donaueschingen qualifier with 74.488%.

In November 2018 the stallion sold to Luca Collin, who was a junior rider at the time, but the horse remained under the supervision of Werth in collaboration with Luca's coach Jochen Bender. Werth still rode the stallion in the 2018 Nurnberger Burgpokal Finals in Frankfurt where they became reserve champions.

Collin and Descolari made their international show debut as a junior pair at the 2019 CDIO-JR Hagen.

In 2020 they made it onto the German team for the European Young Riders Championships in Pilisjasfalu (HUN), where they won team gold and finished fifth and sixth individually. They finished the season with the 2020 German Young Riders Champion's title.

In 2021, they had their highlight year winning the Preis der Besten and team silver and individual bronze at the 2021 European Young Rider Championship in Oliva Nova, Spain. They renewed their German Young Riders Champion's title. Descolari's last international show was in September 2021 at the CDIO-Y Aachen where they were third and fifth.

In 2022 the pair did not compete internationally. Luca showed nationally at small tour level between May 2022 and February 2023, but missed out on German team selection last year after finishing 11th in the Preis der Besten in Warendorf. In their last show as a pair, the CDN Kerken on 24 February 2023, they won the Prix St Georges Special with 74.065%

Alessa Marie Maass

The Collin family has now decided to sell Descolari as Luca prepares for her transition to Under 25 Grand Prix level with horses Fuhur and Bonamour under the watchful eyes of Patrik Kittel.

Descolari has joined Alessa Marie Maass' barn as her future junior rider's horse.

"We decided to sell Descoalri because he is the perfect horse for the junior and young riders tour and my family and I believe that he can make another family as happy as he made us," Luca told Eurodressage. "Alessa and Descolari also train with Jochen Bender, who has trained me for many years! This season they will focussing on getting to know each other."

The 14-year old Maass made her international show debut in 2021 on pony Delray (by FS Don't Worry x Voyager) and in 2022 mainly competed in the international Children division on Floricella (by Furstenball x Dormello), winning team gold at the 2022 European Children Championships in Pilisjaszfalu (HUN).  For the 2023 show season she has pony TI Drei D (by Dreidimensional x Don Girovanni) to ride.

Collin is building an independent business in sales and training. She is currently competing horses Stardust (by Sir Donnerhall II x Escudo), Furstin Fee (by Furst Fohlenhof x Donnerschwee), Verona Diamond (by Vivaldi x Don Diamond) and has done her first Grand Prix rounds on Fuhur.

"I am excited for the upcoming tournaments with my U25 horses Bonamour and Fuhur," Luca added. "But also after making myself independent last year I want to concentrate on my sales horses and training my young horses."
