The 9-year old KWPN licensed stallion Jheronimus has passed away. He was euthanized after an injury kept flaring up.

Jheronimus was by Dream Boy out of A.Bertje (by Jazz x Contango). He was bred and owned by Willem van Weert.

Licensed Stallion

The liver chestnut stallion was first approved after he was picked up by the licensing committee through his sport performance in the Pavo Cup. Under Gerrel Vink the stallion finished 9th in the 2018 Pavo Cup Finals and received an invitation to the performance test.

Jheronimus did his stallion performance test in the autumn of 2018 and scored 83 points.

He was approved for Oldenburg (GOV) in April 2019.

At the start of 2020 Kirsten Brouwer took over. She tried for team selection for the 2020 World Young Horse Championships, but the pair wasn't picked.

They competed on the 2021-2022 KWPN stallion competition circuit but did not show in the finals.

Injury Breeding

Brouwer announced today that Jheronimus has been put to sleep.

"Unfortunately his owners had to decide to put Jheronimus to sleep," she posted on social media. "An older injury from a fall during breeder was flaring up This injury was so severe and untreatable. A life without pain was no longer possible for him so the difficult choice was made to let him go."

Brouwer continued, "I believe this horse had it all to be a good Grand Prix horse and he was well on that way. It was not meant to be."
