Kevin Costner Texel Continues Sport Career in U.S.A.

The 8-year old KWPN gelding Kevin Costner Texel has been sold to the U.S.A. He will continue his sport career with Steven Paulson.

Kevin Costner Texel is by Negro out of Ellegantrasse Texel (by Jazz x Alcatraz). He is bred by Wim van der Linde.

He sold as a foal for 13,500 euro at the 2015 KWPN Star Sale Foal auction. Later on Jeroen Witte, Emmelie Scholtens and Eric Koele became known as the horse's owner.

Kevin Costner Texel first came into the spotlight when he finished second in the 2018 VSN Trophy Finals

In the 2019 Pavo Cup finals he finished fourth and placed second in the pilot project for 4-year olds at the 2019 World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo. That year the owners tried to obtain KWPN licensing through the Pavo Cup, but the horse ended up not approved.

Antonio Laiz - Kim Noordijk

In 2020 Spaniard Antonito Laiz Zandio took over the ride and won the Pavo Cup qualifier in Houten. He also tried to quality the horse for Dutch team selection for the 2021 World Young Horse Championships, but did not make the team. The horse has been gelded for sport.

In 2022 Kevin Costner Texel was competed at national Z2-level in The Netherlands by Scholtens' student Kim Noordijk. The pair became Dutch reserve champions at that level.

U.S.A.

Horses.nl reported that Kevin Costner Texel has been sold to the U.S.A. and will be ridden by Steven Paulson.

The 31-year old Steven Paulson is a former international eventing rider, who competed at CCI 1 and 2* level between 2013 and 2015.

He currently focuses on freedom dressage training alongside a dressage career and trains with Guenter Seidel. Most recently Steven competed Anna Buffini's former Grand Prix horse Wilton.

"I'm very grateful to get a horse from Emmelie! He is a bit of a tricky one but I think going to be special," Steve told Eurodressage. "I currently work for Guenter Seidel so my goals would be to bring him (Kevin Costner) up the levels with the help of Guenter."
