Isa Hollands' internationally competed FEI dressage pony Westerhuis Zorro has found a new career in the U.S.A., as hunter-jumper pony.

Westerhuis Zorro is an 11-year old Dutch Welsh pony stallion by Brouwershaven Diamond Hit out of Westerhuis Stardust (by Kielshoop Honeyhill x Bokkesprong Czardas).

Licensed Stallion

Bred by  Westerhuis in The Netherlands, Zorro was first owned by dressage trainer Christa Lamoyeur.

Zorro got licensed for the Dutch Welsh pony studbook (NWPCS) as a 4-year old in 2016 following a stallion performance test in 2015, in which he scored 7.5 for walk, 8 for trot, 8.5 for canter, 8 for dressage talent, 6 for jumping talent, 9 for character and stable behaviour and 7.5 for suitability as a sport pony.

He proved his quality by siring the 2018 Welsh Foal Champion in The Netherlands and several premium foals despite a limited amount of coverings.

Dressage Career

Zorro sold to the Dutch Bouman family and first gained prominence in the dressage arena under Liz Bouman, who competed him nationally first and then they made their international show debut at the CDI Exloo in October 2018 achieving scores of 68%.

In 2019 he was offered for sale and he ended up selling to pony rider Isa Hollands who first competed him in 2020 and made her CDI debut at the 2021 CDI Sint-Truiden, followed by the CDI Exloo in May 2021, their last international. In 2022 the pair competed at national level

Sold as Hunter, Hollands Moves to Junior Division

Zorro has now been sold to American Allyson Jacoby Coluccio as a hunter-jumper pony. She is based in Marshall, VA, and spends winters in Florida.

"We are so excited to introduce our amazing new Dutch approved large pony stallion Westerhuis Zorro, an outrageous mover & jumper," said Allyson.

Hollands reached the age limit and has to make the transition to horses in 2023. Hoefslag.nl reported that Isa has Mascha van Es' chestnut KWPN mare Hupadoeska PB (by Dancer x Jazz x Darwin) as junior rider's horse. The mare is a half sister to the internationally competed Grand Prix horse and WCYH medal winner Five Star (by Amazing Star, now ridden by Kevin Kohmann).
