The KWPN society kicked off its pre-selection week for dressage breds colts who want to compete in the 2023 KWPN Stallion Licensing. Fifteen colts got the green light on day one of the pre-selection in Ermelo on 29 November 2022.
The KWPN Stallion Licensing Committee consists of Bert Rutten (chair), Johan Hamminga, and Wouter Plaizier. German Sönke Rothenberger assists as a new "apprentice judge."
Today 47 colts were presented in freedom and 15 were accepted for the second phase at the 2023 KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch next February.
"It was a successful start today. We selected a number of complete horses for the second phase. The picture we got on the hard surface corresponded quite well with what we saw in freedom. Of course one stallion impresses a bit more than another," said Bert Rutten. "Although it's not so relevant, I don't believe we even saw so many greys. Several of them will re-appear in Den Bosch."
The selectors picked a cross bred by Secret out of a Lusitano mare by the Brazilian Olympic Grand Prix horse Escorial Horsecampline, for instance.
