Lars Gehrmann has announced his retirement as the managing director of the Trakehner Breeding society. He will leave his position on 31 May 2023 after 30 years on the job.

Gehrmann has been the breeding director and managing director of the Trakehner Verband, as well as managing director of Trakehner GmbH since 1993.

He will be succeeded by Neel-Heinrich Schoof, an agricultural scientist from Dithmarschen, Germany, whose parents breed Trakehners and Holsteiner show jumpers. The Schoof yard produced the legendary jumper Cento.

Schoof has been working in the marketing department of the Trakehner society since 2015. According to St-Georg, he has introduced several Anglo-Arabians from the jumping and eventing division to the breeders.

"The decision I made myself has matured for a long time," Gehrmann stated. "Neel-Heinrich Schoof is held in high esteem for his competent and extraordinarily committed work, and he is close to the breeder and close to hippological events.”

Gehrmann will remain active within the Trakehner society in an advisory capacity.
