Bits 'n Pieces
Bad luck for Stephanie Kooijman. She fractured her right hip in a fall off a horse on 12 March 2022

Former Dutch youth team rider Stephanie Kooijman fell off a horse on Saturday 12 March 2022 and had to be transported to Bravis hospital in Roosendaal, where she was diagnosed with a fractured hip.

She was operated on immediately to stabilize the fracture.

"Again I will have to take it easy for a while and AGAIN I have to rehabilitate," Kooijman took to Facebook. "I'm so done with it! I was just back on a roll and now this. This is such a bummer for me at this moment, but soon i'll switch the button to recover. It now hurts a lot and I hope for a good recovery, which still is a bit unsure."

Kooijman was released from the hospital on 16 March 2022 to heal and begin the long road back into the saddle.

Four years ago Kooijman also fell off a horse and had to be operated on for two fractures in her sacrum.

Kooijman was a multiple team medal winning junior/young/U25 rider between 2010 and 2016. She won individual silver and bronze at the 2013 European Young Riders Championships in Compiegne. Her last international start dates back to December 2017 at Roosendaal Indoor.
