After seven years riding for Helen Langehanenberg, German dressage rider Sabrina Gessmann has decided to go independent and begin her own business.

The 28-year old Gessmann will start this new chapter in her life on 1 February 2022.

Sabrina grew up around horses and got the horse virus from her parents and grandparents. Her first claim to fame was in 2007 when she won the German Developing Rider Championship on Roncalli at L-level. After her high school she knew a life with horses would be hers and became an assistant rider with Sabine and Wolfgang Egbers. She began working at her parents' yard but did half days at Helen Langehanenberg's stable for seven years.  In 2017 she earned the Golden Rider Badge for 10 S-level victories.  In February 2019 she graduated as "Pferdewirtschaftmeisterin" and received the Stensbeck plaque.

Gessmann's international show career began in 2014 as a young rider. She competed her parents Westfalian bred Lord Loriot (by Lord Loxley x Newcastle) first at the CDI Roosendaal and in 2016 at the CDI Mallorca before selling the horse to Russian Anna Aristova. In 2018 she represented Germany at the World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo on Helen's Drama Queen (by Devereaux x Louis Le Bon), placing 12th in the consolation finals. In 2019 she competed the British owned Voltaire (by Vitalis x Arpeggio) in the small tour at the CDI Riesenbeck.

Gessmann will now develop her own business from her parents' stable in Münster-Nienberge. She is also engaged to jumping rider Denis Huser.

"Many thank to Helen for the super fun years and for everything that I learnt," said Sabrina. "Fortunately Helen's stable is only a stone's throw away from ours, so that we can continue to collaborate."
