After an absence from the show ring of more than two years , the highly popular German owned and Dutch bred breeding stallion Ibiza has returned to the show ring.

Ibiza is an 8-year old KWPN stallion (by Desperado x Jazz), who is licensed in Germany. He is bred by Luc Boogert

Star Foal

Ibiza was discovered as a foal by horse dealers Eugene Reesink and Ad Valk.

He then sold for 72,000 euro at the 2013 Midden-Nederland Foal Auction to Jan Vink, but that turned out to be a non-sale.

German Licensed

Reesink and Valk presented him at the 2015 Oldenburg Stallion licensing in Vechta, Germany, where he was approved. At the auction he was bought back by the owners for 170,000 euro, but then sold him a few hours later privately to company Asgard Dressage of German Vasco Janke.

Ibiza did his 14-day Stallion Suitability Test in Adelheidsdorf, Germany, in the spring of 2016 and scored 8.0.  At the 2017 German Stallion Sport Test in Munster, he got a 8.73 final score.

Scholtens - Brunkhorst

In 2017 Ibiza had moved to Holland to be trained by Emmelie Scholtens.

She competed in the 2017 Pavo Cup Finals, in which  he finished fifth. He also did the first qualifier of the 2017-2018 KWPN Stallion Competition circuit to seek approval with the KWPN society, but the stallion bit his tongue and was excused from the test. He never again competed on the circuit and did not get KWPN approved.

With a breeding market in Germany, Ibiza moved to Germany in 2018 and was put in training with Juliane Brunkhorst. She piloted him at the 2018 World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo, where they finished 6th in the Finals.

See Saw

His entire life Ibiza has been moved between Holland and Germany. After Ermelo, Ibiza had a 13-month show break to return to the ring in September 2019 in Medingen, where he won an M-level dressage horse test. It was the horse's last competition start in his career, until this weekend.

At the beginning of January 2020  Ibiza was trailered back to Emmelie Scholtens in The Netherlands, who trained him to small tour level, but did not show him.

In February 2021 the stallion returned back to Germany to stand at stud at Marti Determann's station in Vechta. Owner Vasco Janke told Eurodressage at the time that Kira Wulferding would be training the horse, but the pair never showed in public.

The Come Back

Ibiza's 26-month absence from the competition arena came to an end this weekend.

Markus Gribbe, who is based with his own horses at Determann's after a stint in California, got the ride three months ago. He presented Ibiza in an S-level class at the local show in Vreschen-Bokel.

On Saturday 11 December 2021 the pair rode in the S* for 7-9 year old horses and placed third with 66.270%.
