Danish Under 25 team rider Kathrine With Petersen has sold her European Championship team bronze medal winning horse Hjorths Rapsody In Blue to Danish Young Rider team member Laura Jarlkvist Rasmussen.

Hjorths Rapsody (sic) In Blue is an 8-year old Danish warmblood gelding by Don Romantic out of Rivana SN (by Rosario). He is bred by Jorgen Pedersen.

Stellar Rise

The gelding has been with Petersen since he was a youngster and the pair made its national show debut in September 2017. They competed at the Danish young horse championships in the 4, 5 and 6-year old division (2017-2019).

In 2020 the pair moved to small tour level and this year they made the transition to Intermediaire II level in May. They made their international show debut at Under 25 level at the Nordic Baltic Championships in Ypaja, Finland, in July, scoring twice 70%. They placed seventh at the 2021 Danish Under 25 Championships.

They grabbed the attention of the selectors and were first nominated as team reserves for the 2021 European Under 25 Championships in Hagen in September. However at the final bootcamp before Hagen, the team staff decided to bump her up into the team and dropped a previously selected team rider to the reserve spot.

At the 2021 Europeans, With Petersen and Rapsody in Blue scored 67.118% in the Intermediaire II (29th) and placed fourth with the team. In the Short Grand Prix they finished 31st with 64.641%.

Sold to Rasmussen

With Petersen has decided to sell her horse to long-time Danish young rider team member Laura Jarlkvist Rasmussen.

"I bought him when he was 4 years old and have trained him myself," Kathrine told Ridehesten. "When I bought him, it was actually not at all the plan that I should keep him for that long, because he was bought as a horse I could train a little and then make some money on."

Kathrine, who is in her last year as an Under 25 rider, got coached by Susanne Barnow before switching to Soren Vallentin this year.

The 20-year old Rasmussen will now take over the ride. Aboard the now 17-year old Aatoftens Dornier she competed at the 2018 European Junior Riders Championships and 2020 and 2021 European Young Riders Championships.
