Ludovic Henry's French team horse After You has been retired from competition sport.

After You is an 18-year old Bavarian warmblood gelding by Abanos out of Cassandra (by Ragazzo x Calvados I x Greenhorn). He is bred by Ferdinand Helbach.

Initially owned by Belgian sponsor Christophe Binnendijk, After You was trained to Grand Prix level by Belgian based French rider Ludovic Henry.

Grand Prix Start

The pair made its show debut at small tour level in Pompadour, France in 2011 and moved up to Grand Prix in 2012. That year they were French squad listed in the "Hopeful" team

The combination made major progress when they began training with French team trainer Jan Bemelmans. They were fourth at the 2013 French Dressage Championships and in 2014 they were A-squad listed. They represented France at the 2014 CDIO Vidauban and CDIO Rotterdam and were selected as non-travelling reserves for the 2014 World Equestrian Games.

After the WEG in Caen, Binnendijk sold After You to Henry.

Exceeding All Expectations

After You exceeded the wildest expectations of Ludovic and his wife Georgia Tonnicchi-Henry, who groomed the horse throughout its career.

The pair represented France at the 2015 European Dressage Championships in Aachen, the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, the 2017 European Dressage Championships in Gothenburg and the 2018 World Cup Finals in Paris.

The pair had a break from competition between October 2018 and July 2019, but returned at a national show in Le Touquet in the summer of 2019. Their last international start was in August 2019 at the CDI Nice, where they finished fourth in the Kur with 69.870%.

Retirement

After You has now been officially retired from competition sport at age 18. Based at La Chevalerie equestrian centre in Brussels, Belgium, the tall bay gelding will continue to be pampered by his owners.

"I keep cherish and never forget moments, such as the Grand Prix at the Olympic Games, which was the culmination of years of work with all my family and friends standing behind us," Ludovic told Dressprod. "I also remember the final line of the freestyle of the World Cup Final in Paris. It was absolutely magic."

Ludovic continued, "I obviously honour  the investment my wife Georgia made, without whom nothing would have been possible, as well as the presence of Jean Bemelmans who always believed in us, and Emmanuelle Schramm Rossi who always encouraged us."
