Andreas Helgstrand has sold his two million euro stallion Vivino to Spain

Vivino is a 2016 born Hanoverian stallion by Vivaldi out of Desiree (by Dancier x Feinbrand x Tremezzo). He is bred by Ulrike Buurmann.

2.01 Million Euro

He was one of 12 (!) premium stallions at the 2018 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing in Verden and at the auction following the licensing sold to Andreas Helgstrand for the all-time record price of 2,010,000 euro.

The horse was owned and presented at the licensing by Ernst Kemper and rumours that the colt had sold before the licensing for a much lower price - a fifth of the auction price - never disappeared on the grapevine.

To Denmark

The liver chestnut colt moved to Denmark and was named "Vivino" after the popular wine review App.

The 175 cm standing stallion was presented and accepted at the 2019 Danish Warmblood licensing in Herning.

He did his 14-day suitability test in March 2019 in Tørring, where he scored 8.13 for dressage and 6.33 for show jumping. In the autumn of 2019 he finished fourth in the 35-day stallion performance test

Sport Career Early Beginnings

Vivino received much publicity due to the sky high auction price, but did not become one of Helgstrand's more popular breeding stallions in 2019, nor in 2020.

While Helgstrand normally competes his young stallions, the 175 cm tall Vivino was not. He was given more time to develop and stayed home.

He made his show debut in September 2020 at the national show in Svenstrup. Under Thomas Sigtenbjerggaard he won the 4-year old qualification class for the 2020 Danish Young Horse Championships with 88.0 points. This was his first and only show so far.

Sold to Spain

Vivino has now been sold to Spain. The stallion will move into training with Alejandro Asencio Méndez. The stallion was acquired by his American sponsors.
