he world’s best genes never go out of fashion; with the former WBFSH world number one Gribaldi out of the phenomenal mare O.Bertje, a solid foundation has been laid.

The Prinsjesdag foal auction team kicks off 2021 with a first online auction on 2 March 2021. Prinsjesdag has selected sixteen embryos from fantastic damlines out of sportive lines.

The bidding starts on 26 February and concludes on 2 March 2021.

Dressage

Cas van der Oord together with Lauw van Vliet were responsible for the dressage embryos to be selected:

"We are really very happy with our collection. I think this is a really special collection." Of the sixteen embryos, we have six dressage embryos, of which no less than two come from the famous Obertje line. "Last week the mare Madrugada D. Obertje, auctioned in the KWPN breeding mare auction, was sold abroad for € 40,000. This shows how popular this damline is with dressage lovers. The fact that we can auction two embryos from this line is great. One of them is a direct Gribaldi, the legendary stallion, father of Totilas," Cas said.

Another striking embryo is a Valverde N.R.W. x Davino V.O.D. about which Van der Oord says: "A very commercial embryo from the dam line that is currently very familiar with stallions such as Mowgli V.O.D. and Kjento. The dam of this foal is the NMK champion of 2015, which completes the picture!"

The dressage collection also contains embryos from the top stallions Escolar, Bordeaux and Vitalis. All three bred from fantastic dam lines and closely related to Grand Prix horses.

Show Jumping

Fred van Straaten and Willem van Hoof , selecting the showjumping embryos, are delighted with the ten selected embryos: "We are more than satisfied with our collection. Starting with two embryos from the most sought-after family of the moment: Van 't Roosakker. It is interesting that one of them was sired with the stallions Carrera VDL and Toulon and thus carries different blood," says Van Straaten. From the well-known Van 't Heike line we were as well able to select two embryos. "One is sired by Mumbai, the young stallion of Stal Beerbaum who has already shown to play with 1.60m courses. The other one is a Chacco Blue, you don't have to explain anything about that anymore, they always jump!"

Further in the collection we find two embryos of famous Eldorado van de Zeshoek, which seems to sire one top horse after another. This one is out of  the sister of Gudrun Patteet's new tophorse: Sea Coast Kashmira Z. Eldorado's other embryo comes out of the sportive dam line TB "Belle-Amie", and has a grandmother and great grandmother who have shown what they can do at Grand Prix level.

Lord Europe out of one of the best KWPN dam lines
From the young talent Uricas van de Kattevennen we also see an embryo, bred out of a daughter by Gentleman. Van Straaten: "Uricas is a very interesting stallion in which you can see the long-standing philosophy of breeder Otto Boje Schoof. In combination with Grand Prix stallion Gentleman who we know always gives a sport horse and a top mare from Numero Uno with hardness embedded in it, that is very interesting."

No auction can take place without having a good Cornet Obolensky in the collection. And the selectors have found them for you. Bred from the half-sister of CSI 5* winner Arrayan. As a grandfather we also find the Cornet Obolenksy son Balou du Reventon , who as well supplies an embryo in combination with the top dam line by Emerald, Nixon van 't Meulenhof and Diamanthina.

In turn, Nixon van 't Meulenhof also supplies an interesting embryo. "The special thing about Nixon is that he recently debuted at 1.50 level with Harrie Smolders having been shown maybe only 30 courses in his whole life. A stallion with an unprecedented talent, who will soon jump a difficult 1.60m course with his “ hands tied behind his back!", says the enthusiastic jumping selector.
