The 5-year old Cosmo Callidus and the 6-year old New Magic became the winners of the Dressage Pony divisions at the 2020 Bundeschampionate in Warendorf, Germany, on 3 - 6 September 2020.

Cosmo Callidus

Cosmo Callidus and former German pony team rider Antonia Busch-Kuffner arrived in Warendorf as the favourites for the title with her pony already having won two consecutive titles in the previous years. However, the pair had to put in some sweat and effort to snatch that third one. The Westfalian stallion (by Cosmopolitan D x Cyriac) took a slower start in the qualified of the finals, placing fourth with 7.8 after scoring "only" 7.5 for walk, trot and submission. However in the Finals, judges Ebert, Holthaus, and Lorenz were convinced of his supremacy and rewarded him the highest scores in the class. Busch-Kuffner and Cosmo Callidus won with 8 for walk and trot, 9 for canter, 8 for submission and 8.5 for general impression to finish on 8.30.

Seventeen ponies out of 36 made it to the finals. The judges said about the winning pony: "The impression of this pony is more than good. Cosmo Callidus is a pony who has the best perspectives, without a doubt." The dark bay stallion is bred by Bernd Sabel and owned by Maria Crone-Münzebrock.

Lilly Martinez on Mastro's Cooper Ixes
The reserve Champion's title went to the winner of the qualifier, Antonia Busch-Kuffner on her second pony, PAV Nachtschwärmer (by Nemax x FS Don't Worry). In the qualifier the pair scored 8.3 for a first place, but in the finals, they dropped to second place with an 8.0 score. The black stallion, bred and owned by Gabriele Heemsoth, scored 7.5 for walk, 8.5 for trot and canter, 7 for submission and 8.5 for general impression.  Busch-Kuffner is only 15 years old but is already riding like a semi-pro with her parents running a professional yard. PAV Nachtschwärmer was praised by the judges as "a pony of very high quality with the right mentality for sport."

The bronze medal was won by Spanish junior rider Lilly Martinez Jacobs on Mastro's Cooper Ixes (by Crazy Dynamic JK x Molenhorn's Winston). Bred by Manuela Roscher and owned by Birgita Habermann, the Saxonian bred mare Mastro's Cooper Ixes was seventh in the qualifier with 7.60 points and improved form in the finals. The German based Martinez steered the mare to a third place with 8.5 for walk, 8 for trot and canter, 7.5 for submission and 8 for general impression.

New Magic

Mira Wienhofen on New Magic
Mira Wienhofen and the Rhinelander bred mare New Magic (by FS Numero One x Voyager) left no doubt about it that they were going for the title. Bred by Heinz Baumanns and owned by Patricia Gehre, the chestnut mare New Magic was a league of her own in the qualifier, winning the class with 8.5 well ahead of the second placed pair, Laura Borges on Diego Diaz AT with 8.2. In the Finals the lead was not as big, but Wienhofen and New Magic moved back into first place with 8.2. They received 8 for walk, 8.5 for trot and canter, 7.5 for submission and 8.5 for general impression.  The judges praised the champion as "a pony who is secure on the aids and on the right way of her training."

The silver medal went to Sophie Luise Duen, whose mom Danica Duen is the breeder, trainer and owner of Cosmo Royale (by Cosmopolitan D x Casino Royale K). In the qualifier the duo was third with 8.1. and in the finals the finished second on 8.0. The Hessian bred stallion received 8.5 for walk, trot, and canter, 7 for submission as the aids were slightly too visible, and 8 for general impression. Cosmo Royal won the Bundeschampion's title as a 3 and 4-year old and was reserve champion as a 5-year old.  The liver chestnut was praised for his "undeniable very, very good basic gaits."

Joan Fabienne Weske-Haas and the Weser Ems bred gelding Wintermärchen (by BKS White Light x FS Champion de Luxe) got the bronze. The duo surged from a 7th place in the qualifier (7.6) to a bronze medal earning third place in the finals with 7.8. The palomino received 8.5 for walk, 7.5 for trot and canter, 7.5 for submission and 8 for general impression. Wintermärchen is bred and owned by Nina Maria Dirks.
