Oakbarn is the first Online Dressage Foal Auction in Belgium, which combines the Best of Germany and Holland. With a unique collection of dressage foals, the Oakbarn auction starts on Wednesday 26 August 2020 and concludes on Monday 31 August at 7 PM onwards.

Best of Holland and Germany Meets in Belgium

The youngest European Under 25 Dressage Champion is Foco Loco W, a Belgian warmblood bred by Sierappel x Wendekreis, and ridden by Danish rider Anne-Mette Strandby Hansen. In the US, Benjamin Ebeling was a triple gold medalist at the Wellington CDIO in this class with Illuster van de Kampert, Belgian Bred by Spielberg x Contango.

What has made Belgium big in the jumping horse breeding is also done in the dressage horse breeding. Combining the best that can be found in the surrounding countries and produce outstanding dressage horses. A little bit like they did in Denmark. In Belgium we valuate performance, soundness, and a good confirmation. This must be anchored in the dam line. That is why the Belgian breeders can offer high quality and achieve the successes mentioned above.

Grand Prix mother

The daughter of the Grand Prix mare Vradin (v. Gribaldi, Belgian Champion in 2013 with Simon Missiaen) is presented. Vradin comes from the famous Dutch dam line 52 and with Gribaldi and Michelangelo she has an outstanding pedigree. The father of this foal is Bernay, the shooting star of Simone Pearce, who passed away unexpectedly last week. It’s sad but this makes this filly very special. You will not find much daughters of Bernay out of a grand prix mare.

Another example is a foal from the Westphalian dam line 336. Also, here we see Grand Prix performance in the dam line combined with top German bloodlines.

Healthy damline

We all know a healthy dam line is very valuable. Look at the example of catalog number 8. This filly has 6 generations behind her, who all had good X-rays. We know that this soundness is inheritable. So this filly has the right genes and if you consider this in combination with the good confirmation and a lot of performance in the pedigree, this is surely a good filly to invest in.

Indoctro van de Steenblok

The collection consists of 19 dressage foals and 2 of them of them are sired by the Grand Prix horse Indoctro van de Steenblok (v. Rubin Royal). The dams are by Morricone and Grand Prix Star Dante Weltino. This last one is bred by the breeder of Indoctro. He knows how to breed a top sport horse.

Outstanding pedigrees and Grand Prix stallions

Juno van de Zandzee (by Jameson x San Amour)
Belgian breeders like to take a risk from time to time and use promising young stallions like Global player (Oldenburg Champion) or Le Formidable (Dutch Champion) or Jameson RS2. But they also have an eye for top breeding stallions. That is why you find the combination For Romance x De Niro, or Bernay X Gribaldi, or Bleu Horse Sankt Schuffro x Governor (v. Totilas). The granddam of this foal is by Metall and also the mother of an approved stallion. Another pedigree that looks very promising is Vaderland (although young, a very promising son of Vitalis) x Negro. We all remember Valegro of course.

Looking at the fathers and grandfathers we see a list of proven Grand Prix stallions. What to think about For Romance (2 times) Gribaldi, De Niro, Glock’s Toto Jr. Blue Hors Santk Shuffro, Bernay, Dante Weltino, Indoctro van de Steenblok?

2 Excellent dressage ponies.

The breeders of dressage ponies work the same way as their colleagues with dressage horses. They have built up their own dam lines with the best from Germany and the Netherlands and now they can offer you the same quality. Ponies that have the potential to become top FEI level dressage ponies or even approved stallions. If you hear Golden Dancer, Dornik B, or Der Harlekin, you know enough.
Reasonable conditions

Because Belgium is not yet very much known for its dressage horses we are convinced this auction offers you a good chance to invest in top dressage foals, with outstanding pedigrees and we believe you could be able to do this for reasonable conditions. Take your chance.
