Hochfein (by His Highness x Feiner Stern)

The Marbach state stud owned breeding stallion Hochfein has passed away. He was 16 years old.

Hochfein was a 2004 born Hanoverian stallion by His Highness out of Feine Fee (by Feiner Stern x Leibwächter I x Der Lowe xx). He was bred by Hans Hermann Kober.

The black was discovered as a foal by Jens Meyer who presented him at the 2007 South German stallion licensing, where he was approved as a premium stallion for the Baden Wurttemberger society and Bavarian society. He sold to the Marbach state stud.

He was owned by Marbach state stud and did his 30-day stallion performance test in Marbach in the summer of 2007, scoring 8,98 for dressage and 7.30 for show jumping to finish with an overall of 8.35 points.  In 2010 he did his 70-day performance test in Adelheidsdorf, but underwhelmed there with 95.98 for dressage and 60.77 for showjumping, to finish 15th with 73.25 points out of 18 participating stallions. In 2011 he redid the 70-day testing at home in Marbach and earned 8.48 for dressage and 7.64 for show jumping to end up with 8.14 points.

He was first competed by Irina Oberthur in the 3-year old riding horse tests in 2007 and she took hum up to L-level in 2009.

As of 2011 Rolf Eberhardt took over the ride and brough the horse from M-level to small tour. He was only competed at smaller, local shows and had no prominent show career. Their last start was in June 2016 in the Intermediaire I at the local show in Münsingen.

Hochfein was renowned for his rideability and often featured in stallion parades and shows, including the Equitana Hop Top show and a Quadrille in Spruce Meadows in Canada. His pretty looks made him the poster boy for the Marbach state stud.

As a breeding stallion, Hochfein was never highly used and there are only 6 mares registered as brood mares with the German federation. One is state premium. He has no licensed sons. His most successful offspring is sport is Havanna, who competes in show jumping at A-level.

The 16-year old Hochfein was euthanized following a career ending injury. He fractured his pastern in July but it did not heal well enough for a good life.
