The Lusitano stallion Baluarte da Broa, which has been competing at international Grand Prix level for Portugal, has sold to the U.S.A.

Baluarte do Broa is a 14-year old Lusitano by Quinteiro da Broa out of Rumba da Broa. He is bred by Manuel Tavares Veiga.

Portuguese Ricardo Moura Tavares discovered the grey licensed stallion as a 3-year old, who sold to Coudelaria Romão Tavares.  With the FEI the horse is listed as owned by the rider.

Ricardo trained "Balu" to the highest level and won the national title of "Champion of Champions" at the 2013 Golega Horse Fair and at the 2016 Ponte Lima fair.

The pair made its international Grand Prix show debut in 2019 when the stallion was 13. They competed at the CDI Cascais, where they scored in the mid sixties.

Ricardo and Baluarte showed at five CDI's in Portugal that year. After Cascais, they went to Abrantes, Alter do Choa, Campanhia das Lezirias and Lisbon. His Grand Prix high score was 68.283% achieved in Lisbon.

Tavares has now sold his horse to an unidentified investor in the U.S.A.
