The Spanish equestrian federation has announced their new selection system for the 2020 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden, Germany.

Due to Covid-19, the WCYH were postponed from 5 - 9 August to 9 - 13 December 2020 and they became an indoor event.

The Spanish NF in partnership with ANCCE, the PRE studbook society, have decided that for 2020 Spanish team selection, combinations have to have achieved three times the FEI MER score at either a national or international event. For 5 and 6-year olds that score is 75%, for 7-year olds that score is 70%. These results have to be achieved between 1 January and 26 October 2020.

Team potentials will be invited to two training seminars with Spanish young horse team trainer Bert Rutten; the first at the 2020 Spanish Dressage Championships on 16 - 18 October; the second at Las Cadenas (date to be confirmed).  Rutten will make the final assessment for team selection.

A short list will be announced by 31 October 2020.

Riders have to have the Spanish nationality and the horses have to be PRE or CDE registered. Only when no PRE/CDE horses have achieved the MER, other breeds will be considered.
