The flight for independence continues. Shortly after Spanish Olympian Severo Jurado Lopez announced his departure from Helgstrand Dressage to go independent, Spanish international Grand Prix rider Alfonso Exposito did the same.

The 34-year old Exposito was the head rider at the renowned Spanish dressage trainer center Dos Lunas for almost six years.

Exposito began his riding career at the Royal Cavalry Masters of Ronda, followed by a two-year stint at Beatriz Ferrer-Salat's Villa Equus near Barcelona. He then worked for Yeguada Velasco González before getting hired by Dos Lunas in December 2014.

Alfonso and Anunciada Torras of Dos Lunas gave him the ride on top horses such as Sir Olli OLD, Estoque and Karabella.

Aboard his own mare Trigueña IX he made his international CDI show debut at small tour level in 2014 and at big tour level in 2016. Dos Lunas' CDE bred Estoque he took from young horse level to international Grand Prix. Aboard the Oldenburg bred Sir Olli he placed fourth at the 2018 Spanish Developing Prix St Georges Championships. The horse is now Grand Prix ready.

Exposito and his wife, dressage ride Maria Carnarero, have relocated to the yard of Isidro Maldonado, where he will set up his own business, as well as help manage Isidro's yard.
