Danish team rider Agnete Kirk Thinggaard has decided to snowbird in Florida this winter and is taking her trio of Grand Prix horses across the Atlantic.

Kirk Thinggaard will prepare herself in the best possible way for Danish team selection for the 2020 Olympic Games by residing with her trainer, Lars Petersen at his yard Legacy Farm, in Wellington, Florida and compete at the 2020 Global Dressage Festival.

Thinggaard is taking three horses: the 9-year old Oldenburg stallion Blue Hors Veneziano (by Vivaldi x Donnerhall), the 10-year old Oldenburg stallion Blue Hors Zatchmo (by Zack x Donnerhall) and the 11-year old KWPN stallion Blue Hors Don Olymbrio (by Jazz x Ferro).

The Kirk Thinggaard family used to have their own stable in Wellington, but Agnete's brother Thomas sold the property to Louise Leatherdale in 2018.

Agnete will therefore be at Legacy Farm.

"I will be based at Lars’s place once the stallions are out of quarantine," Agnete told Eurodressage. "I am really looking forward to this period where I will have the opportunity to train with Lars every day and really get connected with these horses, ride a lot of shows, get in shape and get ready for the selection process in Denmark next spring before the Olympics."

Agnete has decided to stay the entire winter season.

"I am in Wellington for most of the season and I am there to learn, train and get better," she said. "And of course - to enjoy the much nicer weather."
