Belgian Horses Selected for the 2019 World Young Horse Championships

The Belgian Equestrian Federation has selected the six horses that will represent Belgium at the 2019 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Ermelo, The Netherlands, on 1 - 4 August 2019. 

Belgium held three selection and observation trials this spring with the third and last one being the final qualifier where the actual team was decided.

Eight horses in total went into the third trial on 29 June 2019 in St-Niklaas for six spots. Only a few days ago two horses dropped out when their rider Andrea Müller-Kersten fell off a horse and fractured her shoulder. 

The final selectors were Ulf Möller, Christof Umbach and Freddy Leyman.

Qualified for Ermelo are

5-year olds

  • Verreet Katrien - Oblix vd Kempenhoeve (by Quaterback x Sungold)
  • Franckx Tom - Javea (by Bon bravour x Krack C)

6-year olds

  • Van Laer Nick - Conan (by Apache x Sir Donnerhall)
  • Franckx Tom - Quanto curo van het Bloemenhof (by Quotenkoning x Weltino)

7-year olds

  • De Winne Flore - Mac Donovan (by Sir Donovan x Cantos)
  • Pauluis Larissa - Valentin (by Vitalis x Fidermark)
