The internationally competed FEI Dressage Pony and multiple European Pony Championship participant Alexandre Dumas has been euthanized following a tragic paddock accident on 1 April.

Bred by Helmuth Jung in Germany, Dumas was by Don Pedro x Lucky Strike.

As a 2.5 year old stallion, Dumas was licensed for breeding in Germany. He did his first shows as a 4-year old in Germany under Anne-Sophie Jung and Caroline Roost until 2005. He finished 8th at the 2003 and 2004 Bundeschampionate finals in Warendorf.

In the winter of 2005-2006 he sold to Great Britain, gelded to be focused on sport but returned back to the continent - to Belgium - not even a year later in 2006.

Dumas made his claim to fame as a Belgian team pony under Noemie Goris. Renamed Alexandre Dumas, the dark bay gelding finished fourth with the team and 11th individually at the 2008 European Championships and got bronze at the 2008  Belgian Pony Championships. In 2009, they were sixth at the 2009 European Pony Championships and won gold at the 2009 Belgian Pony Championships.

In October 2009 Dumas sold to Patrik Hannell as a schoolmaster for his daughter Mathilde. They competed for Sweden at the 2010 Nordic Baltic Championships

In 2012 the pony returned to Belgium and became Elle Peytier's ride. They competed at the 2012 European Pony Championships in Fontainebleau and won bronze at the 2012 Belgian Pony Championships

Dumas then went back to Sweden in 2013, selling to the Williamsson family. He became the ride for Linnea Williamsson who contested the 2014 European Pony Championships with him in Millstreet.

At the end of 2014 Maxime Kjellvertz took over the ride and ownership of the pony and she campaigned him until June 2017. At the beginning of 2018 Lykke Throne-Holst began showing the 19-year old gelding nationally at FEI pony level

On 1 April 2018, Alexandre Dumas unfortunately fractured his leg in the paddock and had to be put down.
